Killing with Kindness...

We are keen, if largely unsuccessful, gardeners. We love to plant things, and then look after them and give them love and watch them grow. Unfortunately we seem to give our plants a little too much love, so much love in fact that we end up killing them with kindness more often than not. Isaac likes to water (drown) the plants at every opportunity, and Oscar likes to help ‘weed’ them (indiscriminate pulling out of green things). So when we received our children’s starter kit from
www.moneysupermarket.com/home-insurance/competitions/kids-grow-wild/ we were very excited at the prospect of causing some death and destruction in the garden department, this post is an entry for BritMums’ #KidsGrowWild Challenge.

We hit the garden fully armed with pointy tools and fighting over who got to hold the watering can. Mummy showed Isaac and Oscar how to plant the seeds, and Isaac and Oscar fought over them and threw them liberally over the soil. Mummy showed Isaac and Oscar how to cover the seeds with soil ... Isaac and Oscar put soil in their mouths. Mummy showed Isaac and Oscar how to water the seeds... Isaac tried to drown Oscar. After much squawking and splashing about we had a variety of seeds all planted. Five minutes later we had most seeds unplanted while Isaac checked if they had started growing yet...

Every day since then we have checked on the seeds progress, lucky for the seeds I also have lots of other plants for Isaac and Oscar to shower with affection, so there have been some signs of progress... keep your eyes peeled – we may manage a few blooms by the end of the summer – sure as eggs though if we do, Oscar will be there, popping the heads off all the daisies...
